Canon FS31 Review

If you are like I was before I wrote my Canon FS31 review, you are spending a lot of time and energy shopping around for the best camcorder. When I was shopping around, I wanted to get a quality camcorder that took great videos for us but that didn’t make me buy fancy features that I likely would never use. I wanted a solid piece of equipment that would do a great job, but I didn’t need to get a piece of professional equipment.

What This Camcorder Offers

The reason I bought this camcorder and ultimately am writing a Canon FS31 review is because it came with some great features and because other reviews talked about how easy it is to use. I was in the market to buy a camcorder at the time we were expecting our first child, and largely the camcorder was intended to be used to capture her early years. The camera weighs just a pound and has an internal flash drive and a removable SD card slot. It also has a 41x advanced zoom feature and optical image stabilization, too. These were some great features that initially turned us onto this camcorder.

Learning the Ropes

As I mentioned earlier in this Canon FS31 review, one of the reasons we opted for this one is because we wanted an easy-to-use camcorder. You may be wondering just how this panned out for us. The fact is that we started tinkering around with it almost as soon as we got it and well before we read through the entire manual. We did end up reading the manual, but the fact is that we took some great pregnancy shots before she was born long before we finished reading the manual. It really is an easy camera to use, and the features are pretty much intuitive. The features are all easy to access, too, so I’ve never felt like we’ve missed a special moment because we’ve been tinkering with the camcorder.

Home Movies

Before I can close out my Canon FS31 review, I have to talk for a minute about how great this camcorder is for creating home movies. Thus far, we’ve used this camcorder from the time before our daughter was born, at her birth, and for almost the first full year of her life. We have captured some priceless moments on video with this camcorder, and the image quality and sound quality have been impressive. The shots are true to life and fully focused. With the zoom feature, we can really home in on her facial expressions without losing image quality, too.
